Toronto, March 24, 2025: A message to Premier Doug Ford from the Coalition of Concerned Manufacturers and Businesses of Canada (CCMBC):

Premier Ford, for a long time your conduct has been incomprehensible. But things have become worse, and now your conduct has become shameful. You call yourself a conservative, presumably because you think conservative policies are beneficial to Ontarians. Yet you cozy up to the federal Liberals and the policies they have pursued that have only hurt Ontario families and businesses for years.

You embrace the Liberal green agenda whenever you can use taxpayer money to do so. Your pursuit of an electric vehicle strategy is a case in point. Billions of taxpayer dollars, from Ontarians and Canadians across the country, have been wasted by you on this absurd agenda – hard-earned dollars thrown at virtue-signalling corporations that care little about Ontario’s proud auto industry and only seek to advance their own interests. This kind of crony corporatism is the world of Mark Carney and Justin Trudeau and other Liberals who like to think they know best for everyday Ontarians. They don’t and you don’t.

You then parade around with Liberals on a tariff agenda, pretending to stand up to Donald Trump when in fact you only mimic his dangerous protectionist positions that threaten even greater trade impediments. These impediments hurt the thousands of Canadian and US businesses that have happily and successfully worked across our border for decades. Your ignorance on the electricity agenda is a case in point: threatening to levy 25 per cent tariffs on electricity sold to the United States was not only foolish (because we sell the power we have in excess and cannot use ourselves) but desperately irresponsible (energy is essential to everything people do – do you really want to threaten that well-being by making energy more expensive?)

Most recently, you pretend that the development of resources – like those found in the Ring of Fire – is something you have advocated for from the start of your premiership. If so, why has so little been done? Why have we not seen that incredible asset developed? You cannot blame others for your inaction, and incompetence.

So we are calling you out. Our country is facing an extraordinary moment. Our biggest trading partner is mocking us for not conducting ourselves as a sovereign nation should. Our federal Liberal government is positioning itself for re-election, promising four more years of an agenda that kills business and threatens the affordability of everyday life. And you? You are feeding both agendas. You are serving Mr. Trump and Mr. Carney.

Shame on you, Doug Ford. You should be serving Ontario.
