Perhaps the most frightening aspect of this is the Liberal government’s creation of a new oversight body called the Digital Safety and Data Protection Commission of Canada. For someone who claims to recognize that the federal bureaucracy is extremely bloated and needs to be reduced, Carney sure does create a lot of new government departments. One of the most worrisome aspects of this new body is that it appears it will have enormous powers over what Canadians are allowed to see and say, while being very poorly defined in the legislation.
