Canada should expand trade with Europe and other global markets; but diversification should not come at the expense of repairing and strengthening our most important trading relationship – the United States.
Canada and the United States have built one of the world’s most deeply integrated economic relationships. Canadian manufacturers, farmers, energy producers, and small and medium businesses depend on reliable access to the U.S. market and integrated North American supply chains.
We, the undersigned, call upon the Government of Canada to:

- Make restoring and strengthening Canad-U.S. trade relations an immediate economic priority.
- Work toward reducing tariffs and other barriers affecting Canadian businesses, workers and exporters.
- Protect and strengthen the integrated North American manufacturing and supply-chain relationship
- Recognize that diversification can complement – but cannot readily replace – the scale and importance of the U.S. market for Canadian businesses
