Is it to teach objective skills, such as literacy, mathematics, science, art, shop class

or whatever else students need to succeed in adulthood? Is it to help kids build self-esteem

through achievement, by pursuing their passions in academics, athletics or artistry?

Is it to help compensate for gaps kids may face due to poverty, through extra

tutoring programs, breakfast programs, free extra-curricular programs and the like?
