Premier Danielle Smith post from X
NDP leader @theJagmeetSingh says Quebec may opt out of a federal program and take an
additional health transfer payment, but Alberta cannot.
I’m tired of the NDP-Liberal coalition treating Albertans like second class citizens. The same
rules should apply equally across Canada.
And to be clear- Mr. Singh did not secure a comprehensive drug deal for Canadians. He
secured a deal that covers only 2 types of drugs.
Alberta’s pharmacare plan sponsors over 5,000 pharmaceutical drugs, and provides coverage
for many low-income Albertans, seniors, and disabled individuals.
In summary, Alberta will take the additional health care dollars, same as Quebec and invest
it into improving our own provincial prescription drug program.
